Filming Guns

In this Day and age there are always a big movie producer looking to make the next big action flick and they all seem to have the same thing in common and that will always be that they all will be filming guns. But with having any type of filming with guns even if they are just prop weapons.

The first example of this is a couple of amateur movie makers end up having a real gun brought onto set and is mistaken for a prop gun which than ends up being used to injure someone else on set. This shows a few things that you need to be responsible about in using prop weapons. First off you need to be clear who is able to touch any prop weapons on a professional shoot so nothing like this happens and if it does liability would be mitigated. Also this shows the need for watching for any type of live firearms being brought onto a set of a movie using props as well as having police officers there too mitigate responsibility as well. Anyone making movies is always looking for a way to save money but any money spent for safety will always come back to you so don't skimp on getting something like a gun control officer on set with experience on set where they are filming guns.

The second example is from the set of the movie World War Z where a large amount of firearms was confiscated due to the fact that local officials did not deem them inactive. This shows that you must always understand international laws such as here since they were showing in Budapest as well as having anyone acting as an expert in the ability to make any weapons ready to be used on a set.

The last example is not as recent but is perfectly valid in seeing what can happen if you don’t protect yourself on a film set. Bruce Willis has sued the company he was working for since a squib, which is a small explosive pack used to show bullet impacts and drop rounds, had parts hit him in his face. Since this is strict liability there isn’t much to mitigate the liability but best to be careful as possible and keep as keen an eye on any explosives on a set at all times to keep incidents such as this from happening again.
